Ummm the Aldi close to me has a Woolies across the road. The next one is in teh same mall as a Woolies and the other one is in a mall with both a Woolies and a Coles.....
So convenience is certainly one piece but obviously value is the other. When I worked for WOW, we knew when an Aldi opened within a catchment of a Supermarket because Toilet Paper sales dropped at teh supermarket as well as other "discretion products".
You see there are some products that people will always by based on their perception of value, note that it is not 'cheapness' but value. If I can buy toilet paper that doesn't scratch my bum then I will look to buy the cheapest one that doesn't. If it does scratch me bum then I will look to buy the next one up.
Madam Mercedes was buying the most expensive toilet paper in Aldi, so she wasn't looking for cheap, but value.
