I 've had a couple of swimming pools and vowed never again because of the constant work and money.

100m away for the big tank sounds about the right distance. The fire fighting pump would have got the water up there pretty quick too. Then a free return.

Although the best water comes from concrete tanks they always seem to crack and weep over time, that's stopped me buying one. It may only be cosmetic but it would worry me.

Sorry to hear you both have health problems. I was going to get a bigger property than this but the changes to the pension asset test made me think again as I had just turned 65 and 5 acres is more than enough to look after anyway.
I see you're getting some rain which would be welcome after that heat over there.
