Thanks Jako for a very comprehensive answer. I still only have a surface level of VSA comprehension. You would think discarding indicators and just looking at only 2 factors - price action and volume - would simplify analysis but of course what is required if less variables is a greater depth of understanding of those 2 variables. Recently I have had reason to focus purely on price action, as a way of getting back to basics, and in terms purely of price action the following bar (with the volume spike, but ignoring that) with the larger range was probably the better signal (and especially so when you take the volume into account). So imo the "better" (i.e. lower risk) entry actually would have been at 40c at the close of the 30th or open of Oct 3rd. Both the expanded range and the higher volume on the 30th more robustly demonstrate buying follow-through.
FUCT gets my vote for naming rights, if you ever do a petition on it, I'll put my signature on that...
