Research is wonderful tool but unfortunately many do not have the expertise to find all the necessary tools.
Perhaps its time for the regulators to have control over director bios. They should include all directorships(the good, the bad and the ugly), they should also include company names of past employment not just say mining industry etc; making for more transparency for the investing public.
Further for shareholder voting at meetings there needs to be control and scrutiny on whom is classed as a related party. In companies where directors hold large parcels of shares related parties should include family members(including extended family), companies they hold shares in companies, they are directors of and business associates.
Research proves time and time again successful companies have an independent chairman and at least half of the board as independents allowing them to thrive.
