I must try that. My current tipple is liqueur muscat but i'll grab some empty cans out of my sister's recycle bin to try.
I took the cowl off the other day, after slipping a sheet of white paper under the bottom of the flue. With the shaving mirror and some sunshine it was pretty clean this time, so making sure the fire is hot before shutting it down last thing at night is working. The aluminium cans might keep it almost spotless?
