I would imagine the well was a dud that hit a small pocket of oil that dribbled away which indicated they needed to be more careful of where they drilled. Hence the gap between that well and now which has been taken up by a lot of Seismic activity to find out exactly where the oil lies. This has paid off with the results of the 1st well and should be similar for the next two.
