Just look at cim formerly lei. They held large position in companies and effectively use their vote to steer the ship the direction they want. Prime example is sdm and dvn. Dvn had 2 takeover offers which were voted down by cim, higher than the offer which they made and ultimately secured control. Sdm was aquired by cim for 150mil. Not bad for a company with 120mil in the bank plus tax credits, and making 30 to 40 mil per year.
So to answer your question takeovers rarely benefit the smaller holders unless your timing is right. Saying that this company is very undervalued for the ground they hold, imo
