In the latest ASX announcement we had ‘XTD is in advanced discussions with major metro rail operators in several of Asia’s largest cities’.
First of all, there is no chance of Jakarta being in the mix because at this point in time Jakarta doesn’t have a metro network. It is still being built.
Furthermore, the language of major metro rail operators and several of Asia’s largest cities suggests that XTD is targeting the big end of town which when it comes to a combination of Asia’s largest cities and major metro rail operators points towards Shanghai and Beijing amongst others in China with possibilities in Tokyo and Seoul as well.
This is not just the impression I got from the language recently used in ASX releases by the company, but also in the interview last year with Alan Kohler, when it was made clear that XTD were targeting China in addition to New York, where the obvious prizes are Shanghai and Beijing.
    According to Wikipedia:

Shanghai has a metro network spanning 14 lines, 364 stations, 588km and carries 8.41 million people a day and the best part of all for XTD is that there is a single operator.
Beijing’s network spans 18 lines, 334 stations, 554km and carries over 9.2 million passengers a day with just two operators.
Tokyo has 13 lines comprising 285 stations spread over 304km with 8.7 million daily users with 2 major operators.
Seoul has a vast subway network of nine lines stretching for 331.5km with hundreds of stations (I came up with 291, but figures varied between sources) with two major operators providing access to most, if not all, of the city’s 10 million strong populace
    .
These four are the clear big boys in Asia, not just in terms of their populations, but also in terms of the size of their metro rail networks, the number of lines that are operated, the size of the companies operating them, the number of stations across the networks and their significant patronage.
XTD management are chasing monsters here not minnows with their previous talk of China in addition to New York, so IMO look out for any or all of Shanghai, Beijing, other locations within China, or the bonus of a Tokyo and/or Seoul in coming weeks and months rather than smaller markets as far as Asia is concerned.
