Interesting article in yesterdays West Australian regarding China recycling old cars and scrap metal at a cheaper rate than producing new steel. Scrap prices have fallen so its even cheaper and the amount of scrap is set to rise. Recycling one old scrap car saves more than a ton of IO and 635kg of coal because they use a different type of mill thats cheaper. Multiply that by millions and thats a big problem for IO and coal producers. Its not going to happen overnight but it could well be a problem further down the line.
