With regards to applying these filters do you use a homemade solution or some commercial filtering program. I'm actually in IT so comfortable with creating my own custom solutions but also happy to use something off the shelf. As a new starter the hardest thing I find is getting some recommendations as everyone is keen to not advertise people's products but in the end everyone needs to learn themselves which is slow and potentially costly.
