Hi Value,
I was thinking along similar lines, I happened to have just finished (thankfully) painting a large part of my house and have recently spent a fair bit of time in Bunnings buying paint. I had a lengthy chat with one of the salesman the other week who was of the opinion that Wattyl would be welcomed back with open arms at Bunnings, but only after their prices were crunched.
Valspar, the owner of Wattyl, has a market cap of $US 6 billion, obviously capable of weathering this storm.
I'm happy to see Dulux reinvesting in it's supply chain and manufacturing capabilities, hoping it can continue to stay on top.
Will be interesting to see if and when Wattyl get back into Bunnings and the flow on effect on prices.
I'd be keen to hear other's thoughts.
