    The Nauru justice system is fueled by corruption funded by the Australian tax payer... Why else would any upstanding global citizen such as New Zealand suspend its funding of Nauru's justice sector? The Australian government is so desperate to shirk its responsibility to refugees, it's left little alternative but continue supporting corruption.

    I'm sure Transfield management would be well aware of this, just as many of its staff already are;

    “When the announcement was made there was stunned silence in our office. The Government wants us to believe that the bid from the company with hundreds of allegations of mismanagement, human rights abuse, child sexual abuse and employee complaints was still a better option than any other bid. Sort of makes government tendering a pointless exercise. The decision to reward Transfield puts Australia in the same league as undeveloped countries in terms of corruption.” ~ Source
