Conductivity is measured in Siemens. (SI unit Siemens /msq). Copper, Nickel, Gold, Lead (close together on the periodic table) are good conductors of electricity and there fore if there is ground that contains these conductive metals, the MELM will give an indication they exist, and can be mapped. The surrounding dirt does not conduct very well (when dry), so if there is an anomaly (conductor in this case) in the ground, it stands out compared to the back ground, and could mean it contains a precious metal, or it could be just boring old iron (duster). That why they have to drill. Down hole MELM is even more accurate. Hope this helps.
