Dave, I 100% agree with you. In my past experience of living and working in heaps of places across the 3rd world (including the middle east), bribery is just the way things get done. There is never any question about it being morally wrong, its just the way it is.
The great spectator sport for me in the Cole enquiry is watching our elected and unelected officials and AWB execs lie and buck-pass their way through it. To me its just another example of our government treating us like the gullible fools that our election results are proving us to be. I would have a far greater (ie some) respect for them if they just came out and said yes, AWB did pay these 'trucking fees', we did know what they really were, but if we stopped it they couldn't have sold all our farmers wheat to them and the farmers would all be broke.
I guess they'll keep doing what they have been doing until we vote them to stop.
I recall a line by someone on here about governments needing changing from time to time before they start to smell. This one stinks to high heaven!
