Because the only way to make Australia remotely competitive in todays world (in anything) is to devalue our dollar one way or another. The chickens are coming home to roost. Wages too high, homes too expensive and uncompetitive work practices on top of that. Once it does fall - given we make nothing and need to import all our manufactured goods, its not a healthy picture.
