    Have a look into Fold/thrust belts, this would be good reading to explain the geological conditions at Baragatan and Aboabo which are located on a fold/thrust belt. These geological provinces are common across Asia and are associates with high pressure gas deposits.

    To better explain what has happened with NDO is that more than likely we have hit some pockets of hydrocarbons that are unexpected and have caused gas influx. The pressure needs to be equalised to avoid a bow out with higher density drilling muds and therefore this would slow down drilling. Given that we have hit sands and limestone I would expect gas pressures and porosity to vary substantially which would further complicate drilling. Though these are positives.

    I'm no geologist, but I have talked to a few who are better at explaining this.
