The article you refer to, dated June 18, 2013 says;

"Mr Buswell said a decision on whether the Oakajee funds would be reallocated would be made before the State Budget on August 8.

Obviously this sum of money is still on the table, and wasn't reallocated in last year's WA budget. If the money had been reallocated, then I would concede Oakajee (and the Mid West hopefuls dependent on it) would be doomed.

IMO, you're missing the bigger point regarding China and the implications with the Mid West.
