Doing business in many overseas countries involves paying bribes etc otherwise you would never get anywhere. So most Australian companies trading overseas, particularly in third world countries, must of necessity engage in what is seen here as corrupt practises.
Unfortunately for them our Australian government has passed laws making it a criminal offence for an Australian overseas to bribe or attempt to bribe foreign officials. Now that bribery and corruption at high levels is being exposed, particularly on this huge scale, it will be interesting to see if our government will enforce it's own laws. Rather stupid and unrealistic laws IMO, but they made them.
