There have been plenty of rivals trying to cash in on the Sealink monopoly and they have all failed miserably. And the rivals have never been able to accommodate vehicle access to the KI. Sealink have the best access to KI via an hour trip via backstairs passage. I would hate to spend 2hrs plus on a Glenelg to Kingscote trip in rough seas and having to pay absorbent hire car at the other end.
I'm originally from KI and have first hand experience of island access and Cape Jervis to Penneshaw is and always will be the best option.
