Why Lady Finger?

Is it necessary to grow the fruit for this idea? At the end of the day the main driver for a banana grower is to produce low cost banana's for the fruit and produce market. Anything else is a distraction. If you aren't involved in fruit production you could grow the banana stems only and mow them down!! This would reduce the cost of growing (no irrigation and expensive farm labour doing pest control and other labour intensive activities). It would also mean that you could potentially grow the banana anywhere with a bit of rainfall and not too cold for too long because you don't want the fruit. Just a thought. :)
