The reality is regardless what the settlement is, it could be a gazillion dollars, the share will reflect the market's view of the value of NTM. Is it an ongoing concern, what are its future prospects......etc etc. Yes, it may trade at some respectable value to cash, but that doesn't guarantee 1 for 1. Rather it may trade at some discount to cash, maybe a big discount. Having said that, unless management makes a distribution to current shareholders and then shuts down the company, the company will deploy the settlement procedes in a capital efficient way hopefully8. At that point the current stock holders will hold or sell depending on individuals risk profile and willingness to trust current management to grow the company. Personally, I'm not sure about the current management team's abilities. And, personally, I don't know what the prospects are for NTM to develop the current portfolio into a production event that would yield ongoing revenues and earnings. So I prefer the current stock holders get paid off and the company liquidated. As far as past stockholders, they will have to initiate a class action suit against the government and or the company for their satisfaction. And, what is to stop the current stockholders from joining that suit. Now for the million dollar question.........................who besides the lawyers ever made money on these types of settlements????????
