Yes, it is tough to learn! Options have several components which affect their pricing. I started out with Guy Bower's book on Options and it gives good basic knowledge. Here is a link to his page: http://guybower.com/?page_id=3

Agree with heading over to the ASX. They do have delayed prices over there. As an example, here is the link XJO June options:

    http://www.asx.com.au/asx/markets/optionPrices.do?by=underlyingCode&underlyingCode=xjo&expiryDate=Jun+2013&optionType=B

    http://www.asx.com.au/asx/markets/optionPrices.do
Go to this page and then type in the stock symbol and the month you are looking for - or choose all months which will bring up everything.

After about 5pm, they have theoretical prices in the bid/ask columns.

Watching price and how it performs as time, price and volatility of the underlying is useful.

I don't check out this forum all the time - if you want to discuss this further, maybe go to the beta site as it's easier to spot a new thread over there and I'm over there a fair bit - and it also alerts if someone has posted in a watched thread. Here is the link to beta: http://beta.hotcopper.com/posts/stream

I believe you have to log in once with the same password as here. If there are problems, then contact Madmin via the support link!

    Hope this helps!

Disclaimer - I have no affiliation with Guy Bower's business - just found his book very helpful when beginning options trading.
