surely you're not suggesting that RIO, as the effective owner of IVA conspired with other parties to drive the SP down in order to destroy RIO's own value holding ?

or do you think such a plan was hatched behind RIO's back by the RIO executives that sit on the IVA board ?

for sure RIO is being taken for a ride here with the insto's expecting them to write off a couple of hundred million and accept a lowball offer just to be rid of it but who's to say they'll take the bait, bend over and pull their pants down ?
