Was it Lasik surgery ?
My wife had it in Australia for 1500$ for both eyes, they were running a special offer( 3 years ago). Still the price currently is 1550$ per eye for LASIK and slightly more expensive for the advanced one. It was at the australian eye institute in sydney. The price is on their website.
Most people prefer to get surgery done closer to home. In most cases after a medical procedure in the absence of complications, people can holiday . But if a surgery results in complications, it can lead to a lot of problems , as the days allocated for a holiday may result in being spent in a hospital and can lead to additional expenses. Follow up arrangements can become problematic as one will have to see another doctor who will have to assess the issue again leading to additional expenses etc ...... hope you see what I'm getting at.
Risks need to be taken into account.
