The AFR article left out some pretty important facts, like the impending refinancing of the Sydney Airport debt. Since the initial loan was written, the book value of Sydney Airport has risen considerably, making it a much more solid asset to secure loans against. The refinancing will leave them with a much lower interest rate, and access to enough capital to fund an acquisition.
